Better late than never !

Hi all, firstly sorry for the delay...you know how these things take time to get round to with a newborn !

Oliver George was born a week late on Monday 3rd Dec at 10.20pm. Katie started getting contractions on the Sunday at about 7pm after having a sweep earlier in the day, so all in all about a 27 hour labour....ouch

At the end of it all we were left with a perfect baby boy weighing in at a healthy 9lb 2oz....well worth the pain (Katie tells me).

Would be good for all the girls to meet up during the day at somepoint for a cuppa and a chat...willing to host at our house if anyone is up for it just conact and we can arrange a date.

Also good to keep this site updated every now and then on birthdays / specail occasions etc.

So thats us all done then !

Cangratulations to all and chat soon !

Finally he arrived!

Hi all,

Lewis Wilson finally arrived (9 days late) on the 27/11/07 11.52 pm weighing 7lbs 2 oz. He was not very well when he was born and Debra had to bring him round. He had to spend 3 days in the special care unit at Southend Hopital, turned out he had a bad chest infection and was given a course of antibiotics. Glad to say that both Mum and Baby were allowed home on Sunday 2nd of December and both are doing fine.

The home birth plan went out the window as Claire was suffering from constant back and hip pain. A trip to the hospital on the Tuesday moring, It was decided that they was going to induce Claire that day but after an examanation Claire was told " Oh you are 6 cm dialated" he arrived approx 12 hours later.

We was so glad that we went and had him at the hospital only becuase of the small problems afterwards.Debra was fantastic and you never know the home birth may happen next time around, hey Claire????????

Sorry it's taken a while but you know what I mean when I say hectic.

Hope your all well, Cant be many more left now. Kaite and Neil look forward to your news.

Its a.......................

BOY!!

Hi all

Firstly I am sorry this has taken a week to do.

Michael and I have had our baby. A little boy called Ryan.

It wasn't as easy as we hoped but he came in the end - i blame the cold weather - to cold for me as well!!

My waters broke at 2.15pm last Saturday but I had no contractions at all - off to hospital we went to make sure all was ok. All was and they said if we didn't go into labout by Monday morning we were going to be induced!!!!

But at 6.30pm that night they were there!! We got to 4 centemeters by 2.00 am on sunday morning and all was looking good to have baby by midday. I went on the gas and air at about 5. am but at 7.00am i still was at 4 cm - nothing had changed.

Off we went to hospital in the ambulance by 12.00pm still nothing had changed by this time i had been in labour for 18 hours and we dicided to have an epidural.

Ryan finnaly turned up at 8:15pm weighing 6lbs 12oz after 30 hours in labour but all worth it in the end.

All is well and now just settling into family life.

It's a Boy!

But then we always knew that bit....

Julie and I are very pleased to announced the arrival of Thomas James today! A drug free, home water birth in tip top time (6 hrs) - he was born at 9:55am. Here he is being weighed in - a very respectable 7lb 1.

Julie was amazing, and she fully recommends the water birth, she said it helped a lot. Not sure how helpful the full details are to you all at this stage, but if anyone wants to ask\know anything post a comment or drop us an e-mail.

We are both still taking it in - and I don't mind saying I blubbed like a blubby thing when he finally appeared.

Best wishes all - looking forward to hearing about your bundles of joy v soon!

Julie & Ian

What A Minefield!

So any of you brave soles managed to work out what the flip you are entitled to from the Government in respect of your new addition, and how the flip you claim it? (hey d'ya all see how i'm trying not to swear anymore?! good practice for when the little one arrives!)

No wonder the kid in the photo looks hacked off, his parents couldn't find out anything either! Thats pretty much what I looked like after about an hour trawling round various Government web-sites, full of loads of information, but telling you very little. Rule of thumb is, if it's a form to pay THEM money, it's one page with about 3 boxes to fill in, if you want to get somethin out of em, it resembles the phone directory.

The best I can find is this link:

Do please share with us all if you've found out any gems!
Anyone got any news or updates? let it all out here!
